We’re back in North Georgia today, in this stunning valley, to pay a visit to Stonewall Creek Vineyards, a 7-acre winery specializing in European-style grapes. This meticulously kept, award-winning vineyard is especially worth a road trip in late summer or fall. So, prepare your taste buds!
And speaking of friends, Stonewall Creek’s current iteration came about when doctor turned winemaker Mark Diehl and his wife Sandi purchased the property from their pals in 2018. This come-as-strangers, leave-as-friends culture makes for an unforgettable experience.
As a retired orthopedic surgeon, Mark believes that immaculate care of the vineyard is the key to growing award-winning grapes. His fine Georgia wines have certainly won acclaim, but you’ll find nothing but a relaxed atmosphere in Sandi’s lovely tasting room.
Here you can enjoy wines by the glass, bottle, or tasting flight. Pair with a delicious charcuterie board. Sip away indoors or on the patio for a gorgeous view of Glassy Mountain. Outside food is also allowed, so don’t forget to pack your Ingles picnic.
Because hospitality is so important here, you’ll find the grounds to be both family & dog friendly, as well as a lot of fun.
Open 5 afternoons a week from Thursday to Monday, guests can enjoy tossing a ball around, the nine-hole disc golf course, bocce ball, or corn hole. Live music and other events are part of the regularly scheduled programming, and private tours are available on request. If you’re looking for an intimate venue, Stonewall’s elegant event space is an affordable offering designed to accommodate about 50 people.
Stonewall produces about fifteen hundred cases of wine annually. If you’re curious about how wine goes from grape to barrel, sign up to volunteer for one of Stonewall’s fall Harvesting Weekends.
Wandering the vineyards and soaking up the gorgeous mountain surroundings, it’s easy to understand why so many guests volunteer to help bring in the harvest – one that yields a delicious product ready and waiting for your enjoyment.
