If you build it, they will come.  That’s the iconic line from the classic 1989 film, Field of Dreams.  And today we’re here to see that dream become a reality for a great southern town that truly sparkles.  It’s time to play ball with the Hub City Spartanburgers.

Yep, the Spartanburgers.  We are in Spartanburg, South Carolina after all.  And here in the Upstate baseball is back in a big way.  This is opening day here at Fifth Third Park.  Ingles is out in full force, the faithful are in attendance, and the young hopefuls are taking the field with dreams of major league stardom.

The Hub City Spartanburgers are the High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers.  So some of these players have The Show set in their sights.  But tonight it’s minor league baseball in all its glory – with community at the heart of it all.

That community spirit is reflected in the amazing murals that adorn the stadium by local artist, Jeremy Kemp.  Each reflects a different piece of the City’s history and identity (the Grain District, Railroad Hub, and Notable Diners).

And speaking of notable diners you know if The Ingles Open Road is visiting a ballpark we’re going to find the food.  And boy the Spartanburgers do not disappoint.  Bring your ball glove, your winning spirit, and your appetite!

The fun food options are just the start of the good times here at Fifth Third Park.  The Spartanburg Regional Kids Zone features a 10-foot climbing wall.  And of course the on-field entertainment is always a blast.  Sitting back and taking in America’s past time on a beautiful spring afternoon is an experience you just can’t beat.

Fun is the name of the game here.  Well, technically baseball is the name of the game – but you get the idea.  So, load up the family, gas up at your local Ingles, and take yourself out to the ballgame.
