If you want to know what 5,000 feet in elevation feels like, let us tell you – it’s cool. And when it’s summertime in the south, that’s a big deal. Today we’re visiting one of the coolest spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway – a destination with a long history of providing travelers with some much needed R&R.
Welcome to the Pisgah Inn. This place has been welcoming visitors since 1919 – long before there was a Blue Ridge Parkway. But with the construction of America’s favorite drive in the 1960’s the Pisgah Inn grew in popularity and became a must-stop for anyone cruising the Pisgah Region of the parkway.
Today this place is famous for its majestic views, delicious food, quaint accommodations, and easy breezy ambiance. And today we get to experience it together.
The restaurant here is open to all – and reservations are highly recommended. Dining here is an absolute joy – for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Here you can meet other visitors from all over the world, enjoying world-class cuisine, and out of this world views. There’s even a wine bar to sample some lovely libations as you marvel at the beauty of the Blue Ridge.
And if you just happen to pop in cruising the parkway, you can visit the Grazing Deer Cafe for grab and go options and settle in at one of the picnic tables for dining al fresco.
The rooms here echo the rustic beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and have everything you need for your top of the world escape – including your own private porch. Guests of the Inn and daytime visitors alike have access to the gorgeous grounds, complete with places to kick back and relax and trails to explore.
And before you head home you have to visit the Crafts and Gift Shop for fun souvenirs and hand-crafted local items. What better way to support Western North Carolina’s comeback than by treating yourself to great experiences and beautiful works of art?
As the Blue Ridge Parkway continues its rebuilding efforts you need to know that this stretch of America’s favorite drive is open and ready and waiting for you. And we can’t think of a better place to visit than the Pisgah Inn.
