Today we’re on the move on two wheels – as we explore a fantastic new rails to trails experience in the mountains of North Carolina. If you’re ready for a little exercise and a lot of fun, then it’s time to steer your bike to the all new Ecusta Trail.
Running through Hendersonville, Etowah, Horse Shoe, and eventually Brevard, the Ecusta Trail is the new name for an old railroad line that served the Ecusta Paper Mill. The beautiful bends of the trail take you through glorious countryside and some wonderful stops along the way.
Stops like Trailside Brewing Company, a local hub where craft beer, great food, and community come together.
And there are a whole host of local businesses you can support as you make your way down the trail. From coffee shops to restaurants to specialty shops, it’s a great way to explore this corner of North Carolina.
And exploration abounds on the Ecusta Trail. Further down you can cruise on into Packa’s Place – a seasonal beer garden with live music, food trucks, and family fun – it’s a great spot to gather for good times.
The Ecusta Trail has been a long time coming. Conversations began in 2007. Today that vision is a growing reality – one that we all get to enjoy together.
Once it’s fully completed, the trail will connect Main Street to Main Street, running 22 miles from Hendersonville to Brevard. And already the first 6 miles of the Ecusta Trail are a fantastic preview of good things to come.
The natural beauty of the region is on full display. Whether you’re coasting through farm fields… pedaling past sparkling waters… or taking a pause to enjoy some gorgeous views… it’s a great way to soak up all that this glorious area has to offer.
